Stand for Fort Worth Recommends Candidates for Local Races

UPDATED: To include Jungus Jordan recommendation.

Election day is Saturday, May 4, 2019 and early voting runs from Monday, April 22, through Tuesday, April 30. Stand for Fort Worth recommends the following candidates:

Fort Worth ISD District 2 – Chad McCarty

Mr. McCarty answered the Vote Under God church voter guide questionnaire indicating, among other things, that he believes humans are biologically and immutably designed as God created them, male or female, and marriage is a lifetime covenant between one man and one woman.  Mr. McCarty is running against the incumbent, Tobi Jackson.  Ms. Jackson supported Superintendent Scribner when he imposed his illegal transgender policy.

Fort Worth ISD District 5 – C.J. Evans

Ms. Evans’ campaign literature discloses that she is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.  The church is part of the Presbyterian Church in America, a denomination which affirms the biblical view of marriage and sexuality.  But she did not answer the Vote Under God church voter guide questionnaire, so her positions on several important issues cannot be confirmed. Ms. Evans is running for the seat vacated by Judy Needham.  We have concerns about some of the endorsements Ms. Evans has touted including Needham’s. Needham supported Superintendent Scribner when he imposed his illegal transgender policy. We reluctantly recommend her over her opponent.

Fort Worth ISD District 6 – Sandra Shelton

Ms. Shelton answered the Vote Under God church voter guide questionnaire indicating, among other things, that she believes parents have ultimate responsibility (above the state) to direct the upbringing, education, and medical care of their children.  Ms. Shelton is running for the seat vacated by Ann Sutherland.  She has two opponents.

Fort Worth City Council District 4 – Cary Moon

Mr. Moon answered the Vote Under God church voter guide questionnaire indicating, among other things, that he believes elected officials should be good stewards of taxpayer funds by adopting responsible budgets and reducing government debt.  Mr. Moon is running for reelection.  He has one opponent.

Fort Worth City Council District 6 – Jungus Jordan

Mr. Jordan answered the Vote Under God church voter guide questionnaire indicating, among other things, that he supports any/all legal protections of human life from conception through every stage until natural death. Mr. Jordan is running for reelection. He has two opponents.

Fort Worth City Council District 8 – Chris Nettles

Mr. Nettles answered the Vote Under God church voter guide questionnaire indicating, among other things, that he believes religious liberty should be protected and that individuals should not be forced to violate their sincerely held religious beliefs.  Mr. Nettles is running against the incumbent, Kelly Allen Gray, and one other opponent.

Tarrant Regional Water District Board – Gary Moates

Mr. Moates is a member of Christ Chapel Bible Church.  Mr. Moates is one of five individuals, including two incumbents, who are running for two spots on the Board.  The top two with the most votes wins.
